Mamata Banerjee's Strong Allegations Against the Central Government

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has accused the BJP-led central government of systematically harassing Bengali-speaking individuals across the nation. She warned that if this alleged oppression continues, it could lead to severe political repercussions in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections. Speaking at a rain-soaked protest rally in central Kolkata, Banerjee claimed that the central government is issuing covert instructions to BJP-ruled states to detain and intimidate Bengali citizens. Addressing her supporters after a march that concluded at Dorina Crossing, she stated, 'I will challenge these secret notices. How can Bengalis be detained merely on suspicion? This is unacceptable.'

Accusations Against the Election Commission

The leader of the Trinamool Congress also accused the central government of attempting to influence the Election Commission for its political gains. Expressing her embarrassment and disappointment over the BJP's treatment of Bengalis, she highlighted the plight of over 2.2 million Bengali migrant workers across the country who possess valid documents like Aadhaar, EPIC, and PAN cards, yet are being unfairly targeted and even sent back to Bangladesh. She questioned, 'Is West Bengal not a part of India? What right does the BJP have to treat Bengalis this way?'

Call to Action for Political Resistance

Banerjee declared her commitment to the political struggle, announcing that the BJP should prepare for another round of 'Khela Hobe' in 2026, a slogan that resonated during the 2021 elections. In a defiant tone, she asserted, 'I will speak even more in Bangla. If possible, arrest me.' Calling for political resistance, she warned that if the BJP does not cease its oppression of Bengalis, the Trinamool Congress knows how to put a stop to it.
