Mamata Banerjee Accuses BJP of Targeting TMC Leaders Amid Internal Crisis
Mamata Banerjee's Strong Allegations Against BJP
Mamata Banerjee, the former Chief Minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of targeting her party leaders, including Lok Sabha MPs Abhishek Banerjee, Mahua Moitra, and Kalyan Banerjee. In a video message, she stated that if the ruling party aims to silence her, they would have to take her life. Banerjee addressed the recent rebellion within the TMC and the looming crisis over the party's existence following a significant defeat in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. She indirectly criticized those who left the party, wishing well to those who did not betray the TMC by joining the BJP.
Accusing the BJP of attempting to intimidate TMC leaders, she remarked, "To silence me, you would have to take my life. Yes, you have left no stone unturned in this regard." Banerjee reiterated her claims of harassment against her party leaders, targeting the BJP once more. She questioned, "Who have you not attacked? You have targeted Mahua, Abhishek, and Kalyan. You have even attacked my home."
Banerjee further alleged that the BJP came to power through vote theft and manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. She claimed that the BJP, which achieved a significant victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, seized control of counting centers using central forces. Despite this, she stated that they decided to allow the new government to take charge, asserting that the truth would eventually come to light as they possess evidence.
Internal Crisis in TMC Following Election Defeat
These statements emerged amid an internal crisis within the TMC, triggered by the departure of several prominent leaders from the party following its dismal performance in the elections, affecting both the Assembly and Parliament.
