Mamata Banerjee Accuses BJP of Election Manipulation in West Bengal
Allegations of Election Fraud by Mamata Banerjee
Following her party's defeat in the West Bengal elections, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee has leveled accusations of fraud, claiming that the BJP colluded with the Election Commission to manipulate the results. The acting Chief Minister of West Bengal criticized the BJP's significant victory in the recent assembly elections, alleging that they conspired with the Election Commission. Banerjee stated, "There was dishonesty under the guise of SIR. The India alliance will remain strong." After her party's substantial loss in the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections, she directed her ire towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Election Commission, asserting, "Our battle was not against the BJP, but against the Election Commission."
Concerns Over Election Integrity
Banerjee expressed her disappointment, stating that the Chief Election Commissioner has become a villain in this election, violating the constitutional rights of citizens and tampering with EVMs. She questioned how EVMs could retain 80-90% charge after voting, calling it suspicious. Just two days before the elections, arrests of her supporters began, and raids were conducted across the region. She claimed that all IPS and IAS officers were replaced, and BJP members were appointed, indicating a direct collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission. Banerjee described this as a betting game between the BJP and the Election Commission, asserting that they fought against the entire system, with the Prime Minister and Home Minister directly intervening. She noted that 9 million names were removed from the SIR, and when they approached the court, 3.2 million names were reinstated, labeling the entire process as dirty and disgraceful. "I have never witnessed such an election in my life," she concluded.
Violence Erupts at TMC Office
According to reports from a Media House, TMC leader Jahangir Khan's party office in Falta, South 24 Parganas, was vandalized by angry BJP workers and supporters, who allegedly destroyed property and raised BJP flags. This incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has heightened tensions in the area.
