Malvika and Devika Bow Out

In the Malaysia Masters event, Indian badminton players Malvika Bansod and Devika Sihag faced elimination in the second round. According to reports, Malvika, ranked 51st in the world, initially took the lead against Denmark's eighth seed, Line Kjaersfeldt, but ultimately lost the match with scores of 21-16, 8-21, and 15-21. Malvika started strong, leading 11-6 at the interval in the first game, but the momentum shifted in the second game as Line dominated, winning the first eight points. Although Malvika regained a lead of 11-8 in the deciding game, Line turned the tide after the break to secure her victory. This match marked Line's second win over Malvika in three encounters.


Devika also exited the women's singles competition after losing to China's top seed and former Olympic champion, Chen Yufei, with scores of 21-16 and 21-13.


Ashmita Chaliha Advances to Quarterfinals

Ashmita Chaliha showcased her talent by advancing to the women's singles quarterfinals at the Malaysia Masters. She achieved this by defeating Malaysia's Goh Jin Wei with a score of 21-13, 21-16 at the Stadium Axiata Arena. Starting from the qualifiers, Ashmita maintained control throughout the match, winning the first game comfortably.


Despite Jin Wei's attempts to mount a comeback in the second game, Ashmita kept her opponent at bay, finishing the match in straight games in just 27 minutes. This victory marks Ashmita's third time reaching the quarterfinals of a Super 500 event. She is set to face eighth seed Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt of Denmark, who previously defeated two Indian players, Anmol Kharb and Malvika Bansod, in earlier rounds.
