Support for Uniform Civil Code in Madhya Pradesh

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh announced that over 90% of citizens participating in the consultation process have expressed their support for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state. During a cabinet meeting at the state secretariat, he reported that public consultation meetings across all districts were conducted peacefully. He highlighted that a state-level consultation meeting took place in Bhopal on June 22, where discussions were held with commissions, government departments, political parties, and religious leaders to gather opinions on the proposed law.


Public Engagement and Feedback

The Chief Minister emphasized that approximately 3.49 crore SMS messages were sent to registered beneficiaries on the 'Samagra Portal' inviting suggestions regarding the UCC. So far, more than nine lakh suggestions have been received, with over 90% of respondents supporting the Uniform Civil Code. Notably, this proposal has also garnered significant backing from members of minority communities. The relevant committee and the law department are currently collaborating to draft this legislation.


Celebration of Guru Purnima Fortnight

Additionally, Chief Minister Yadav announced that the state will celebrate 'Guru Purnima Fortnight' from July 15 to 29. During this period, schools will organize various educational, cultural, and awareness activities, including speech and essay competitions, recitation of Sanskrit verses, health awareness programs, tree plantation drives, and career guidance sessions.


Recognition for Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

In discussing achievements in the tourism sector, the Chief Minister noted that Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve has been honored as the 'Best Wildlife Destination' in a national tourism survey and awards event held by a national news channel in 2026. This award was presented by the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Yadav stated that Bandhavgarh's rich biodiversity, healthy tiger population, natural beauty, and effective conservation management have earned it recognition both nationally and internationally.
