Major Road Accident on NH-48 in Rajasthan Involves Truck and Pickup
Significant Collision on Delhi-Jaipur Highway
A serious road accident occurred early Tuesday on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway-48 in the Kotputli-Bahrod district of Rajasthan. Near the Bagawas Ahiran bridge, a truck collided with a pickup truck that was ahead of it. The impact was so severe that both vehicles fell off the bridge onto the service road below. Shortly after the collision, the truck, which was carrying chemicals, caught fire, causing chaos at the scene.
Vehicles Plunge Off the Bridge
According to reports, both vehicles were traveling from Delhi towards Jaipur. Around 5 AM, the truck lost control and struck the pickup truck in front. Following the collision, both vehicles broke through the bridge and fell down.
The pickup truck was severely damaged, and its driver became trapped inside the cabin. Police arrived at the scene and conducted a rescue operation to free the driver, who was then taken to the sub-district hospital in Pawta for treatment.
Fire Erupts in Chemical-Laden Truck
After the accident, a fire suddenly broke out in the truck filled with chemicals. The flames quickly intensified and became visible from a distance. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the police notified the fire department.
Fire engines from Kotputli, Pawta, and Shahpura arrived at the scene. The presence of chemicals made it challenging to extinguish the fire. After approximately three hours of effort, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
Truck Driver Flees the Scene
Reports indicate that the truck driver fled the scene following the accident. The police are currently investigating the causes of the incident and trying to determine why the truck lost control.
Traffic on the highway and service road was disrupted for a while after the accident. The police cleared the damaged vehicles to restore normal traffic flow.
Ongoing Police Investigation
The injured pickup driver is receiving treatment at the hospital. The police are thoroughly investigating the entire incident. There have been no reports of other casualties in the accident.
