Major Fraud Uncovered in Madhya Pradesh Police Recruitment: 22 Candidates Implicated

Fraudulent Activities in Police Recruitment Exam

Bhopal: Authorities in Madhya Pradesh have initiated legal proceedings against 22 individuals involved in fraudulent activities during the police constable recruitment examination. This revelation follows the discovery of significant irregularities in the recruitment process.

All implicated candidates are accused of submitting fake certificates. Anshuman Singh, the Inspector General of Police for Law and Order, detailed the extent of the fraud during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal.

The police action was prompted by directives from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, as stated by the police official.

The recruitment initiative, organized by the Madhya Pradesh Staff Selection Commission in 2023, sought to fill positions in the Police Reserve GD and Radio divisions.

An impressive 652,057 candidates took part in the written examination, with 55,220 moving on to the physical fitness assessment conducted between October 16 and November 20.

Ultimately, 6,423 candidates were selected, including 5,090 men and 1,333 women, according to the senior police official.

Concerns were raised during the second phase of the selection process in November 2024 when five candidates attempted to impersonate others at the Morena examination center.

Their suspicious actions led to immediate intervention, barring them from taking the test and initiating legal actions against them.

In response to this incident, the Police Headquarters in Bhopal issued a directive on April 21, 2025, requiring a comprehensive re-verification of all successful candidates.

This verification process included biometric checks and Aadhaar history assessments from their respective units prior to final appointments.

Investigations uncovered a troubling trend in various districts, revealing that candidates had tampered with their Aadhaar biometric data both before and after the written exam.

Forensic examinations of signatures, handwriting, and fingerprints identified inconsistencies, prompting authorities to file cases in multiple locations.

To date, seven cases have been registered in Morena, six in Shivpuri, two in Sheopur, and one each in Indore, Datia, Gwalior, Alirajpur, Rajgarh, and Shahdol, as reported by the officer.

Further investigations revealed the involvement of Aadhaar card vendors who manipulated records for profit, enabling fraudulent alterations without adequate verification.

This exploitation of the system allowed candidates to evade security protocols and attempt to secure positions through unlawful means.

Under the guidance of the Director General of Police in Madhya Pradesh, the Selection Branch and other investigative units are closely monitoring the situation, with ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and maintain the integrity of the recruitment process, reinforcing the state's commitment to transparency and fairness in law enforcement appointments.
