Significant Explosive Discovery in Kalahandi


Bhawanipatna: On Thursday, authorities in Odisha's Kalahandi district confiscated approximately 6.5 tons of explosives along with 115 detonators, leading to the arrest of four individuals.


According to a statement from the Kalahandi Police, the operation was initiated following a complaint filed by a mining officer. A coordinated raid was executed by both the mining department and police at a stone quarry and crusher located in Lakhbahali, under the jurisdiction of Jaypatna police station.


During the operation, two vehicles loaded with explosives were seized, and among those arrested were two drivers.


Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Nagaraj Devarakonda confirmed that the vehicles were found transporting explosives in breach of regulations.


The investigation is ongoing, as stated by the SP.


In a related development from Rourkela, businessman Shravan Agarwal has been remanded for two days by the police.


Previously arrested in connection with an explosive theft case, Agarwal is now being held for further questioning. Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani mentioned, "We have secured a two-day remand for additional investigation. If needed, we will seek an extension of this remand."


Additionally, a summons has been issued to Nikita Agarwal, another licensee involved in the explosive trade in Sundargarh district, as part of the same investigation.
