Major Drug Bust in Punjab: 19.98 kg of Heroin Seized
Significant Drug Operation in Punjab
In a collaborative effort between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), a significant operation was conducted in Punjab, resulting in the seizure of 19.980 kilograms of heroin. Four individuals, including a key operator managing the supply chain, were apprehended during this crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking.
Preliminary investigations by the Punjab police revealed that the arrested suspects were linked to traffickers based in Pakistan. They were reportedly coordinating the delivery and distribution of narcotics across various districts in the state.
An FIR has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and efforts are ongoing to trace supply routes, identify additional operators, and dismantle the entire network.
Continued Efforts Against Drug Trafficking
The operation, which targeted cross-border smuggling, saw the ANTF and BSF working together to intercept a substantial quantity of heroin. The authorities are committed to eradicating the drug menace in Punjab, as emphasized by the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, who stated their determination to dismantle the network of narcotics trafficking.
In a related incident, the Punjab police previously dismantled an organized crime syndicate involved in murder, extortion, and targeted killings, arresting nine suspects and recovering several weapons.
