Significant Drug Arrest in Prayagraj

In a recent operation, a joint team from the Airport Police Station and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) apprehended an individual suspected of smuggling smack in Prayagraj. The authorities recovered 700 grams of the drug, valued at approximately ₹1.40 crore.


According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Bharti, the arrest took place on Monday near Bhagwatpur Hospital, where Syed Mohammad Siraj Rabbani, a resident of Barabanki, was taken into custody based on a tip-off.


The DCP confirmed that the seized illegal smack is estimated to be worth around ₹1.40 million. A case has been registered against Rabbani under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at the Airport Police Station.


During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he had brought the smack from Barabanki to sell in Prayagraj. He admitted to trafficking the drug to fund his personal habits and sustain his livelihood.
