Significant Drug Seizure in Kandwal Area

In a significant operation, the CIA Wing of Nurpur Police made a notable arrest during a routine patrol and checkpoint inspection in the Kandwal region late on June 11, 2026. Following a credible tip-off, officers apprehended three suspects near Jyoti Hotel at Chakki Bridge, Kandwal, and seized 25.65 grams of heroin (chitta) from them.


The suspects have been identified as:



  1. Arjinder Kumar (42), son of Harbans Lal, residing in Parja Katra, Nainsukh Wali Gali, Amritsar (Punjab).

  2. Ajay Kumar Anand (28), son of Krishan Lal, from Thathiyara Wala, Amritsar Rural (Punjab).

  3. Arvinder Kaur (21), daughter of Sukhwinder Singh, hailing from Baltoha Jodh Singh Wala, District Tarn Taran (Punjab).


A case has been filed at Police Station Nurpur under FIR No. 152/2026 dated June 12, 2026, invoking Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. All three individuals are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the origins of the confiscated drugs and to identify additional members of the trafficking ring.


Nurpur Police reiterated their dedication to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking and emphasized their commitment to eradicating the narcotics issue from the community.
