Overview of the Controversy

A significant criminal controversy has emerged involving the BPO unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) located in Nashik, Maharashtra. Recent events have not only shaken the corporate sector but have also raised serious concerns regarding workplace safety and religious freedom. Based on allegations made by victims aged between 18 and 25, the police have filed nine FIRs to date. Given the gravity of the situation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established, which has already identified at least 12 victims.

Below is a summary of the nine FIRs filed and their timelines:

Between July 2022 and February 2026, the accused—Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, and Nida Khan—who were employed at a well-known multinational company, allegedly made derogatory comments about Hindu deities, causing distress to a female complainant who was also an employee. Furthermore, Tausif Attar promised to marry the complainant and engaged in physical relations with her on multiple occasions. Additionally, Danish Sheikh reportedly attempted to force physical intimacy with the complainant inside the office premises, leading to her humiliation and embarrassment, which prompted the filing of this case.

From May 2, 2023, to March 19, 2026, the same accused—Raza Memon and Shahrukh Qureshi—also employed at the multinational company, behaved inappropriately towards the female complainant, causing her embarrassment and humiliation. They engaged in lewd staring, physical touching, and made inappropriate comments about her personal and marital life. Despite the complainant raising verbal complaints to senior officials multiple times, no action was taken, effectively enabling the accused's behavior, which led to the filing of this case.

Between 2022 and February 2026, Shafi Sheikh, another employee of the multinational company, allegedly made the complainant feel humiliated by lewdly staring at her during meetings and making inappropriate comments about her personal life, particularly regarding her lack of children. He also attempted to physically restrain her with the intent of sexual relations, resulting in the filing of this case.

From May 2025 to December 2025, Tausif Attar reportedly made inappropriate inquiries about the complainant's personal life and lewdly stared at her, causing her significant distress. He also made derogatory remarks about Hindu deities while she and other female colleagues were working, which offended their religious sentiments, leading to the filing of this case.

Between 2022 and March 23, 2026, the accused—Tausif Attar, Danish, Shahrukh Sheikh, and Raza Memon—used derogatory language regarding the complainant's religious deities and forced her to participate in Islamic prayers, while also attempting to convert her religion by coercing her to eat non-vegetarian food. This behavior included using obscene language towards Hindu women, resulting in the filing of this case.

From September 6, 2024, to February 2026, Asif Ansari and Shafi Sheikh made lewd comments about the complainant's physical appearance and intentionally touched her inappropriately, aiming to humiliate her. Tausif Attar also made derogatory remarks about Hindu deities, which offended both the complainant and the Hindu community, leading to this case being filed.

Between June 7, 2025, and March 2026, Asif Ansari, Shahrukh Qureshi, Ruza Menon, Tausif Attar, and Shafi Sheikh allegedly stalked the female complainant, making obscene verbal comments and inappropriately touching her, which constituted sexual harassment. They also used derogatory language regarding Hindu deities, which offended the complainant's religious sentiments, resulting in this case being filed.

From January 2025 to the present date, Raza Memon and Shafi Sheikh repeatedly initiated conversations about the complainant's personal life against her will, attempting to establish physical closeness. Shafi even proposed marriage without her consent, while Raza made lewd comments about her body. Both accused deliberately made physical contact with her, causing her embarrassment, which led to this case being filed.

Between January 2026 and April 1, 2026, Raza Memon and Shahrukh Qureshi made obscene comments and gestures towards the complainant, persistently inquiring about her personal life despite her reluctance. They also made lewd remarks about her physical appearance, causing her significant embarrassment, which resulted in this case being filed.
