Despite winning only three out of ten matches, MI New York advanced to the finals, while the Texas Super Kings and San Francisco Unicorns, who secured seven victories, were eliminated from the tournament. In the Qualifier-2 match held in Dallas, Nicholas Pooran's MI New York triumphed over the Texas Super Kings by seven wickets, securing their spot in the championship match.
MI New York is set to face Washington Freedom on July 14. During this match, Captain Pooran hit an incredible six that sailed out of the stadium. Alongside Pooran, Kieron Pollard also delivered an impressive performance.
A Six That Went Out of the Ground
Chasing a target of 167 runs set by the Texas Super Kings, MI New York's Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard played brilliantly, leading their team to victory. Pooran scored an unbeaten 52 runs off 36 balls with a strike rate of 144.44, hitting four fours and three sixes, including a remarkable six that traveled 102 meters. This extraordinary shot occurred during the 16th over of MI New York's innings, leaving bowler Marcus Stoinis stunned. MI New York clinched the match with six balls to spare, winning by seven wickets. Pollard also contributed significantly, scoring 47 runs off 22 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Akil Hussain's Efforts Go in Vain
In Qualifier-2, the Texas Super Kings had a rocky start, losing opener Samit Patel for just 9 runs. At one point, they found themselves at 85 runs with five wickets down. However, Akil Hussain and Devon Ferreira steadied the innings, helping the team reach a respectable total.
