Intense Military Operations in Balochistan

In a significant military operation, Pakistani security forces have reportedly eliminated 73 militants in Balochistan over recent days, as announced by the army on Sunday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), which serves as the media branch of the Pakistani Army, detailed that these intelligence-led operations took place over a span of 96 hours, primarily in Quetta, the provincial capital.

Additional operations were executed in the districts of Ziarat and Noshki, as well as in the Mand area of Tump, targeting outlawed militant groups.

According to ISPR, 33 militants were killed in the Shaban area of Quetta during a fierce firefight, leading to the dismantling of several hideouts.

The operations also resulted in the recovery of various weapons, ammunition, and explosives.

The operation commenced on September 21 in Ziarat and intensified over the following 72 hours, culminating in the deaths of 23 militants.

On Friday, 11 militants were neutralized in Noshki, while six others were killed in Mand, where a substantial cache of weapons was also seized.

The army's operations specifically targeted factions referred to as 'Fitna al Khawarij,' a term used for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The ISPR further alleged that the Afghan Taliban government is complicit in terrorist activities within Pakistan, which continues to jeopardize lives and disrupt peace.

There has been no immediate response from the Afghan Taliban regarding these accusations.

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for their successful operations, highlighting the clearance of numerous militant hideouts in Balochistan as a significant achievement.

In a separate incident, armed assailants attacked a construction site in the Palari area of Duki district, abducting 12 workers, as reported by Senior Superintendent of Police Mansoor Buzdar.

Buzdar noted that a security guard was killed during the attack while resisting, and two other guards sustained injuries.

Militants in Balochistan frequently target construction sites and mines, abducting workers from other regions.

The province, which shares a border with Afghanistan, has seen a rise in violence from various militant groups, primarily affecting civilians and government officials.
