Significant Developments in Bhojpur


Patna: A significant advancement has been made in the murder case of Chandan Mishra, as a collaborative effort between the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Bhojpur police led to the arrest of three suspects following an encounter in Bhojpur district on Tuesday.


The confrontation occurred around 5:45 a.m. near a river along the Bihiya-Kateya road, within the jurisdiction of the Bihiya police station.


Acting on intelligence reports, the police and STF surrounded the suspects associated with the murder case.


The suspects responded by firing at the police, who returned fire.


During the exchange, two suspects, Balwant Kumar (22) from Liladharpur, Buxar, and Raviranjan Singh (20) from Chakrahi, Bhojpur, were injured.


Balwant sustained injuries to his hand and leg, while Raviranjan was shot in the thigh. The authorities also confiscated two pistols, a homemade firearm, two magazines, and several live cartridges. A heavy police presence was established in the area following the incident.


Both injured suspects were first taken to Bihiya Hospital and subsequently referred to a more advanced medical facility for treatment.


According to Bhojpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), three suspects were apprehended during this operation.


Sources indicate that information obtained from the main suspect, Mohammad Taushif alias Badshah, who is currently on a three-day police remand in Patna, led to these arrests in Bhojpur.


Gangster Chandan Mishra was fatally shot at Patna’s Paras Hospital on July 17.


Authorities previously stated that nine individuals were implicated in the conspiracy and execution of the murder.


With the recent arrests in Bhojpur, the total number of suspects detained in connection with the Chandan Mishra case has reached seven.


Earlier, police had arrested Mohammad Taushif alias Badshah (the primary suspect), Nishu Khan alias Bhaijaan, Harsh Kumar, and Bhim Kumar from Kolkata.


Now, with Balwant Kumar and Raviranjan Singh (both injured during the encounter) along with another suspect arrested on Tuesday, the investigation is making notable progress.


The Bihar STF and Patna Police are intensifying efforts to locate the remaining two fugitives connected to the murder.


Additionally, the police are focused on recovering the firearms and motorcycle used in the crime.


These arrests mark a crucial step in dismantling the network responsible for Chandan Mishra’s murder, with further developments anticipated based on information gathered during interrogations.
