Major Arms Cache Seized in Kishtwar: A Blow to Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu: A significant operation by joint security forces has led to the recovery of a substantial amount of arms and ammunition from three terrorists who were neutralized during a three-day anti-terror operation in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, the recovered items include 1 M4 rifle, 2 AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 65 M4 bullets, and 56 AK-47 bullets, along with various supplies such as caps, medical kits, and socks. These items were seized from the terrorists killed in the Chattroo Naidgam encounter on Saturday.

The operation commenced based on intelligence inputs in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar.

On the second day, one terrorist was eliminated, followed by the deaths of two more on the third day, including Saifullah, a prominent commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group.

Earlier, on March 23, five terrorists were detected in Sanyal village of Kathua district, located just 4 km from the International Border.

It was suspected that these terrorists had crossed into Indian territory.

A police team responded quickly to the situation, but the terrorists managed to flee to Safiyan Jakhole village, where a confrontation ensued between the police and the terrorists.

In that encounter, two terrorists were killed, but tragically, four policemen lost their lives, including a Deputy SP (Border) who was among three injured.

Following this incident, joint forces initiated a 'seek and destroy' operation in the vicinity.

The anti-terror operation expanded to the higher regions of Kathua and Rajouri districts.

Additionally, operations were launched in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts, with the latter resulting in the elimination of three terrorists.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar on April 8.

Attendees included J&K Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Chief of Army, and other high-ranking officials.

During the meeting, Amit Shah emphasized the need for a complete eradication of terrorism in the union territory, with a particular focus on the Jammu division.
