Major Administrative Reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh Ahead of Election Results

Ahead of the election results in five states, Uttar Pradesh has seen a major administrative reshuffle involving the transfer of 38 IAS officers. This includes changes in key districts such as Moradabad and Jaunpur. Notably, Rinku Singh Rahi, who recently submitted a resignation, has been appointed as the Joint Magistrate of Jalaun. The recent transfers follow a series of earlier changes, with a total of 64 IAS officers being reassigned in a short span. Significant Changes in IAS Officers

In a notable administrative shift just before the announcement of election results in five states, Uttar Pradesh has seen the transfer of 38 IAS officers. District Magistrates in Moradabad, Sambhal, Firozabad, and Jaunpur have been replaced. Rinku Singh Rahi has been appointed as the Joint Magistrate of Jalaun. Recently, Rahi had submitted a technical resignation to the President, citing a lack of opportunity to perform his duties, although he later withdrew his resignation.

Previous Transfers of Officials

On April 20, 2026, the Yogi government executed a transfer of 40 IAS officers late at night, affecting District Magistrates in 15 districts, including significant areas like Agra, Sultanpur, Bulandshahr, Shravasti, Shamli, Saharanpur, Amroha, and Hamirpur. The following day, around April 21, an additional 24 IAS officers were transferred, impacting 10 districts, including Ayodhya and Barabanki. In total, nearly 64 IAS officers were transferred within an 18-hour window.


Earlier Transfers on March 29

On March 29, Uttar Pradesh also witnessed the transfer of 9 IAS officers. In this order, S.M. Devaraj, the Principal Secretary of the Appointment and Personnel Department, was given additional charge as the Director General of the Administrative and Management Academy. Anurag Yadav was appointed as the Principal Secretary for Social Welfare and Soldier Welfare, while Alok Kumar III was assigned additional responsibilities in the IT and Electronics Department along with his current duties.
