Mahua Moitra's Stand Against Misrepresentation

Mahua Moitra, a Member of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has voiced her opposition to the selective quotes taken from her interviews, which have been used to misrepresent her views and attract public attention. She stands out as one of the few party leaders openly supporting former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee amidst a backdrop of dissent among MPs and MLAs.

In a recent interview with a prominent media outlet, Moitra discussed the internal strife within the TMC and the ongoing discontent among party members. She expressed her respect for Suvendu Adhikari while reaffirming her strong support for Mamata Banerjee.

Discussion on Rebel Leaders and Party Dynamics

Regarding the issue of rebel MPs and MLAs focusing on Abhishek Banerjee, Moitra referenced Suvendu Adhikari's departure from the party, stating that she respects the clarity of his political decision to leave. In her interviews with Hindi and Bengali media, she noted that Adhikari's core issue was similar to that of others. Mamata Banerjee had appointed Abhishek Banerjee as the second-in-command in the party, which Adhikari realized meant he would never gain control as long as Abhishek was present.

Later, she took to social media to clarify that her interview comments had been taken out of context, leading to speculation about her praise for the Chief Minister. Moitra explained that Adhikari believed it was his right to be a party member, but he also understood that as long as Abhishek was in the picture, that would not happen. Consequently, he decided to join the BJP, articulating his stance clearly, which deserves respect. He left and fought his political battles for five years. She further questioned why the rebel leaders remained silent when the party was winning in West Bengal.

Clarifying Allegations Against TMC Leaders

Moitra emphasized that she wants to make it clear that those currently making accusations had only contested elections a month or so ago, all under the TMC symbol. Abhishek Banerjee was not newly appointed as the party's national general secretary; he held that position during the 2021 elections, which the party won under his leadership.
