Maharashtra TET Exam Delayed Amid Allegations of Paper Leak

The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) scheduled for 2026 has been postponed following reports of a leak involving parts of the question paper. Rahul Gandhi, a leader from the Congress party, asserted on Saturday that the education and examination system in the country has turned into a "revenue extraction mechanism." Originally set for Sunday, the exam faced cancellation due to these serious allegations. Gandhi expressed his concerns on social media, stating that the current situation has made every young individual in the country feel insecure. He emphasized that this issue transcends mere paper leaks, representing a theft of the future of the youth.

Earlier, the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) released an official statement indicating that the TET, which was to take place on June 28, was postponed after police investigations in Bhiwandi revealed the alleged leak. The exam was planned to be conducted across 1,028 centers throughout Maharashtra. The MSCE noted that, in light of irregularities observed during the NEET 2026 exam, they had implemented all necessary security measures. However, confidential information received on Saturday morning indicated that certain individuals in Bhiwandi possessed details related to the TET question paper. The council reported that Bhiwandi police conducted a raid and discovered that several unauthorized questions matched those of the actual TET exam. Consequently, the police have filed a case against those involved.

In light of these developments, the council announced the postponement of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) originally scheduled for June 28, 2026. A thorough investigation into the matter has also been ordered. Furthermore, the council stated that updated information regarding the exam will be made available on their official website.
