Legislative Action Against Extremism


Mumbai: On Friday, the Maharashtra Legislative Council approved a significant bill aimed at addressing the illegal activities associated with Left-wing extremist groups, despite a walkout by opposition members.


The Maharashtra Special Public Security Bill was introduced in the upper house by Yogesh Kadam, the Minister of State for Home (Urban).


This legislation had already received approval from the assembly the previous day.


With the bill now passed in both chambers of the state legislature, it is set to become law pending the Governor's approval.
