Maharashtra Elections Result Highlights
Following a significant performance in the local body elections in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that the Mahayuti alliance has effectively eliminated the Maha Vikas Aghadi from the state. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, Fadnavis asserted that nearly 75% of the elected municipal corporation heads belong to the Mahayuti alliance, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi managed to secure only 50 seats.
Election Results and Party Performance
Fadnavis declared that the BJP has emerged as the leading party in the recent Maharashtra election results. The Mahayuti alliance successfully elected 75% of the municipal council heads, with 210 heads from the alliance compared to just 50 from the Maha Vikas Aghadi. He noted that the BJP's strike rate is the highest, with 65% of the elected heads being from their party. Additionally, he highlighted that the Mahayuti alliance has elected around 3,000 councilors, with 48% being from the BJP, which he termed a record achievement.
Public Trust in NDA Government
Fadnavis further stated that this year, approximately 3,000 councilors were elected, with 48% from the BJP, showcasing public trust in their governance. He remarked that the electorate has once again endorsed the development agenda and trust-building efforts of the NDA government and Prime Minister Modi. He noted the collapse of the opposition stronghold in Nagpur, declaring the Sao Ner municipal council free of Congress influence, and expressed confidence in winning upcoming municipal and district council elections.
Counting and Election Process
The counting for 286 municipal councils and panchayats commenced at 10 AM today. The elections were conducted in two phases, with voting taking place on December 2 for some councils and on December 20 for others. Approximately 129 municipal council heads were elected from the BJP. The combined total of heads from the three alliance parties (Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP led by Ajit Pawar) constitutes 75% of the total seats. According to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, over 3,300 candidates from the BJP were elected as councilors.
