The Maharashtra government has decided to postpone the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 after parts of the question paper were allegedly leaked just a day before the exam. Originally scheduled for June 28 at 1,028 centers across the state, the exam's timing has now been altered following evidence of leaked questions. According to Nandkumar Bedse, the director of the Maharashtra State Examination Council, police received a tip-off on the morning of June 27 regarding individuals in Bhiwandi possessing the TET question paper.

In response to the tip-off, Bhiwandi police conducted a raid and summoned officials from the examination council to examine the materials found. During the investigation, it was discovered that some of the seized documents matched the actual TET 2026 question paper. Following this revelation, a criminal case was registered, and an investigation is currently underway.

The Examination Council stated that several security measures were implemented during the preparation for TET, especially in light of the irregularities observed in the NEET 2026 exam. However, due to suspicions surrounding the paper leak, officials opted to postpone the exam to maintain fairness and transparency in the recruitment process. The council announced that the exam's timing was changed to allow for a thorough investigation, ensuring that the test is conducted in a completely transparent manner. The new date for the exam will be announced later on the official website of the Maharashtra State Examination Council.
