Maharashtra Deputy CM's Helicopter Diverts Due to Severe Weather Conditions
Helicopter Incident Near Kalyan
On Thursday, the helicopter carrying Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde encountered sudden strong winds and a storm near Kalyan. The pilot promptly assessed the deteriorating weather conditions and decided against proceeding further to ensure the safety of everyone on board. Due to low visibility, high winds, and unstable air, the pilot opted to return to Mumbai. The helicopter landed safely at Juhu Airport, with all passengers, including the Deputy Chief Minister, reported to be unharmed.
Details of the Flight
According to available information, Shinde took off from the helipad at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, heading to a wedding ceremony in Murbad, near Kalyan. The weather turned adverse unexpectedly during the flight, prompting a quick and thoughtful decision that helped avert any potential danger. Earlier, Eknath Shinde had assured residents of a Pune village justice for a four-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered after being sexually assaulted last week.
Government's Commitment to Justice
Shinde stated that the state government would not rest until the culprits are sentenced to death. During a meeting with the villagers from the victim's area in Pune district, he emphasized that the police have been instructed to build a strong case against the accused. The residents presented him with a memorandum demanding the death penalty for the 65-year-old suspect, who has a history of similar offenses.
Public Outcry and Government Response
In the village under the Bhor tehsil of Pune district, the accused allegedly assaulted the girl on May 1 and subsequently murdered her. This incident has sparked widespread public outrage and protests. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured on Sunday that the government would make every effort to ensure the death penalty for the accused and expedite the trial process to deliver justice swiftly.
