In Maharashtra, consumers are about to feel the pinch of rising inflation as the prices of both cow and buffalo milk are set to increase by ₹2 per liter. This new pricing regulation will take effect on Tuesday, August 11. The decision was made during a meeting of the 'Milk Producers and Processors Welfare Association,' chaired by Gopalrao Mhaske, which included representatives from both cooperative and private dairy organizations.

Reasons Behind the Price Hike

The Dairy Association has cited a significant rise in production and supply costs as the primary reason for this price adjustment.

Rising Fuel Costs: The price of diesel has surged by up to ₹10 per liter, increasing transportation expenses for milk delivery.

Increased Packaging Costs: The cost of materials used for packaging milk bags has risen by approximately 30%.

Higher Purchase Prices from Farmers: Dairy companies are now paying more to farmers for raw milk, and this trend may continue.

Dairy Products to See Price Increase

The association has also announced that prices for dairy products such as yogurt, buttermilk, and paneer will rise by up to 10% to balance the increased costs. This decision, effective from August 11, will directly impact the budgets of families in major cities like Mumbai and Pune, where daily milk consumption is notably high.
