Maharashtra Cricket Association Welcomes IPL Franchises to Pune Stadium
MCA Expresses Gratitude to IPL Teams
The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has extended its appreciation to the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), for their recent visit to the MCA International Stadium. This visit is seen as a crucial move in promoting the venue as a prime location for significant cricket events. In a post on X, MCA stated, "We sincerely thank Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals for their visit to MCA International Stadium, Gahunje, Pune, a few weeks ago. Their presence is a vital step in establishing the MCA International Stadium as a leading destination for high-profile cricket matches."
MCA Optimistic About Hosting IPL Matches
The MCA is optimistic that, with backing from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the stadium will soon receive approval to host IPL matches for one of these franchises. They mentioned, "With BCCI's support for the Maharashtra Cricket Association, we are confident that the MCA International Stadium will be sanctioned as a venue for upcoming fixtures of one of these teams shortly. This will allow Pune to experience thrilling IPL matches featuring world-class players and exciting clashes for cricket enthusiasts in the city."
Stadium's Impressive History
The last cricket match held at the MCA International Stadium took place in January 2025, where India faced England, with the Suryakumar Yadav-led team winning by 15 runs. To date, the MCA has successfully hosted five T20 internationals, three Test matches, and twelve One Day Internationals.
