Warning to BJP Councillors

On Saturday, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis issued a stern warning to the newly elected councillors of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emphasizing that arrogance and a lack of transparency would not be tolerated. He urged the new councillors not to perceive the municipal corporation as a platform for 'commission business.'

BJP's Victory in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad

The BJP achieved a significant victory in the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal elections, decisively defeating the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar and other parties.

Historic Success in Municipal Elections

Addressing the newly elected councillors, Fadnavis noted that no other party has experienced such success in Pune's municipal elections over the past 30 to 35 years.

Public Endorsement of Development Agenda

He stated, 'In a way, the people of Pune have endorsed our Prime Minister Modi's development agenda. The entire city stands firmly behind this agenda, providing us with a clear mandate.'

Acknowledgment of Party Workers

The Chief Minister remarked that the media had portrayed the competition as extremely tough, leading to the perception that the battle would be very close. However, he congratulated the party workers in Pune for turning this challenging contest into a one-sided victory.

Responsibility Accompanies Victory

Fadnavis emphasized that this victory brings with it a sense of responsibility and reflects the high expectations of the public. He concluded by stating, 'If we live up to this trust, our position will remain unchallenged for the next 25 years.'
