Maharashtra CM Thanks Victim's Father Amid Protests Over Rape-Murder Case
Chief Minister's Response to the Tragic Incident
On Sunday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed gratitude to the father of the victim in the Nasrapur rape and murder case for withdrawing protests and cooperating with authorities. He also issued a warning against attempts to exploit the tragedy for ulterior motives. A 65-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Nasrapur, located in Pune district, which has sparked widespread outrage.
Amid protests and roadblocks, the Chief Minister assured that the government would seek the death penalty for the accused. Fadnavis acknowledged that some individuals were trying to manipulate the situation for their own agendas, but he expressed his appreciation for the victim's father.
Victim's Family Calls for Focus on Justice
After discussions with the police commissioner, the father decided to call off the protests. While leaders from various political parties visited the victim's home to express their condolences, the father urged political figures to refrain from visiting for the time being, emphasizing that the family's primary focus should be on ensuring justice. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has taken cognizance of the incident, with its chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, condemning the act as extremely tragic and a stain on humanity, stating that this brutal crime has shaken society.
