Maharashtra CM Dismisses UBT-MNS Alliance as Politically Irrelevant

CM Devendra Fadnavis Critiques UBT-MNS Coalition

On Wednesday, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis rejected the alliance between Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), asserting that both parties are attempting to create artificial hype around their partnership despite being politically irrelevant. Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis remarked that this coalition is being portrayed as a significant historical event. He stated, "They are trying to promote it as if a historic event is unfolding, akin to peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, where Presidents Zelensky and Putin are finally meeting face to face. This promotion is being deliberately orchestrated by both Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS."

Allegations of Political Irrelevance

The Chief Minister accused both parties of weakening themselves through appeasement politics, leading to a steady decline in their voter base. Fadnavis emphasized that these parties have lost their relevance by engaging in appeasement politics and losing their support. He claimed that the alliance would not benefit the public and asserted that it is driven not by ideology but by political desperation.

Desperate Measures for Survival

Fadnavis stressed that in a desperate attempt to preserve their existence, they have joined forces, believing that no party can win independently. However, he expressed confidence that the people of Maharashtra have recognized their efforts, and based on this, the Mahayuti will emerge victorious. Previously, the Thackeray brothers, Raj and Uddhav, came together to pay tribute to Balasaheb Thackeray and announced their coalition for the upcoming BMC elections in January.

MNS and UBT Leaders Unite

MNS chief Raj Thackeray stated that the moment Maharashtra has long awaited, where Shiv Sena and MNS unite, has officially arrived. UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray remarked, "We have come together to stay united." The collaboration between the two parties also signals a resurgence of identity politics. Uddhav Thackeray made it clear that the needs of the Marathi people will be prioritized, emphasizing that the interests of Maharashtra are of utmost importance.
