Maharashtra CM Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over TET 2026 Paper Leak Comments
Fadnavis Responds to Rahul Gandhi's Concerns
On July 14, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, for his remarks regarding the paper leak incident of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026. Fadnavis questioned whether Gandhi was seeking information while being present in India or if he was relying on social media from abroad.
Gandhi had expressed that the cancellation of the TET 2026 exam due to the leak has left nearly six lakh candidates in a state of uncertainty, with no new exam date announced.
Fadnavis Addresses the Media
While speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Fadnavis stated that he wanted to inform Gandhi that an investigation into the matter has already been conducted and actions have been taken. He emphasized that measures are being implemented to prevent such incidents in the future. He reiterated the importance of whether Gandhi is requesting this information while in India or from abroad via social media.
Details on the TET Exam Cancellation
On July 14, Gandhi posted on X, highlighting that the Maharashtra TET paper had been leaked, leading to the exam's cancellation. He noted that six lakh candidates are left in limbo, and despite two weeks passing, there has been no update on a new date. The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) postponed the TET exam, originally scheduled for June 28, following reports of the paper leak during a police investigation in Bhiwandi.
Exam Centers and Security Measures
The TET was set to take place across 1,028 centers in Maharashtra. In a public notice, the MSCE mentioned that despite stringent security measures implemented after irregularities during the NEET 2026 exam, confidential information received on Saturday indicated that some individuals in Bhiwandi had prior knowledge of the TET question paper.
