The suspect, a 31-year-old man who recently returned from the United States, was arrested for allegedly stabbing two security guards on Monday. The incident has since been handed over to the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) following claims that the attacker targeted the guards for refusing to recite a religious verse.

The authorities recovered several books and disturbing materials from the suspect's home. He had been living in the U.S. and had recently returned to India. Initial investigations revealed that he had become radicalized and harbored intentions to attack members of the Hindu community in the name of jihad. The Chief Minister noted that multiple agencies are involved in the investigation, which aims to uncover whether a larger network is behind this incident. The Anti-Terrorism Squad and the National Investigation Agency are currently leading the inquiry, with full support from the state government. According to police reports, the suspect, who spent 19 years in the U.S. before returning to India in 2019, was apprehended just three hours after the attack, which occurred at 4 AM. The attacker, identified as Jaib Ansari, assaulted the victims, Rajkumar Mishra and Subrato Sen, at a construction site in the Asmita Grand Mansion complex in Naya Nagar, Mira Road East. The confrontation escalated into violence, resulting in injuries to both guards. Tensions rose in the area as rumors of a religious angle began to circulate. The Thane ATS arrived at the scene to restore order, while local police transported the injured to the hospital.
