Legal Action Against Saurav Das

Chennai: A businessman has filed a petition with the Madras High Court requesting the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the background of Yogesh Sharma, also known as Saurav Das, who serves as the National Co-Convenor of the Cockroach Janata Party, along with details about his parents.

In his petition, Ganesh Kumar claims that Das may have ties to Nepal, which he believes warrants scrutiny. He argues that if this is substantiated, Das should not be in a position to criticize the government or the judiciary.

Kumar has accused Das of misusing the judicial system and has requested that his passport and Aadhar card be revoked if he is found guilty.

The bench, led by Chief Justice S A Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan, has issued a notice to the Union government, the Regional Passport Officer, and ten other parties, with a response expected within six weeks.

Additionally, Kumar has asked the Ministry of Electronics and Telecommunications to suspend Das's Twitter and Instagram accounts to prevent him from making further derogatory remarks about the judiciary and its judges.

He seeks to prohibit Das from making any defamatory or abusive statements against the judiciary, particularly targeting Supreme Court judges, under the pretext of freedom of speech, across all media platforms, including social media, until the case is resolved.

Kumar emphasized that Das's continuous attacks on the judiciary constitute a violation of the Constitution.

He further stated that if Das's alleged Nepali heritage is accurate, it raises serious questions about how he obtained his Aadhar card, voter ID, and passport in India, suggesting that he has concealed critical information.

Kumar insists that a thorough investigation is necessary to understand how Das acquired these documents and the sources of funding for his activities against the judiciary.
