Astronomical Observation in Madhya Pradesh

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, observed the astronomical phenomenon known as 'Zero Shadow' on Saturday at the Varahamihira Observatory near Dongla.


During this event, he explained the concept of time changes and calendar calculations through solar movements to the attendees.


According to an official statement, the Chief Minister elaborated on astronomical science rooted in Indian knowledge traditions, akin to a teacher imparting wisdom. It was noted that every year on June 21, at precisely 12:28 PM during the summer solstice, the shadow of the conical instrument at the observatory disappears.


Yadav remarked that Dongla was a significant center for timekeeping in ancient times. He expressed to the students present that efforts would be made to re-establish it as a center for time calculation.


The Chief Minister emphasized to the students that eternal culture does not advocate for the display of power through war or violence, but rather promotes the welfare of the world through education and science.


He stated, “Our ancestors integrated science into their way of life, and this scientific lifestyle has preserved our culture to this day.”
