Lucky Escape at Lucknow Airport: Pilot Averts Disaster with Emergency Brake
Incident at Lucknow Airport
A potential disaster was narrowly avoided at Lucknow Airport on Thursday when a monkey unexpectedly appeared on the runway. The pilot of an Indigo flight demonstrated quick thinking by applying emergency brakes, ensuring the safety of all 132 passengers on board. The incident caused a significant stir at the airport, leading to a delay of over an hour before the flight was cleared to take off after necessary protocols and investigations were completed.
The event occurred around 8:55 AM when the Indigo aircraft was accelerating for takeoff at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. Suddenly, a monkey jumped onto the runway, prompting the pilot to react swiftly by engaging the emergency brakes, thus preventing a major accident and safeguarding the lives of 135 individuals, including crew members. Reports indicate that the flight was scheduled to depart for Raipur.
Monkey on the Runway
After ensuring the monkey was removed and conducting all necessary checks, the flight finally took off for Raipur at 10:05 AM. Passengers and crew members were understandably shaken by the sudden braking, which also caused chaos at the airport. Personnel from the security team quickly intervened to escort the monkey away from the runway. However, the monkey continued to frolic around the area for nearly an hour. The Civil Aviation Department has initiated an investigation into the incident.
How the Incident Was Averted
Had the pilot not acted promptly, the situation could have escalated into a serious accident, putting the lives of passengers and crew at risk. An inquiry is currently underway to determine the negligence involved and how the monkey managed to reach the runway. Ultimately, passengers arrived at their destination with a delay of approximately one hour.
