Lucknow Super Giants' Flexible Strategy Ahead of IPL 2026 Match
Adapting Top-Order Strategy
On Saturday, Bharat Arun, the bowling coach for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), shared insights about the team's adaptable approach to their batting order as they gear up for their IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). When asked about Rishabh Pant potentially opening the innings, Arun remarked, "Strategies are always evolving, and I believe the top four positions should remain dynamic for the team."
Absence of Digvesh Singh Rathi
Digvesh Singh Rathi, a leg-spinner who debuted for LSG last season, was absent from the opening match of the current tournament. Rathi, who took 14 wickets in the 2025 season, was not included in the lineup due to the team's batting needs. Arun explained, "We have only played one match so far, and Rathi's absence was a strategic decision to bolster our batting. He is an outstanding bowler and will be a key part of our spin attack moving forward."
Challenges and Opportunities for Bowlers in T20
Bharat Arun emphasized that while T20 cricket tends to favor batters, it also offers bowlers a chance to excel. Ahead of the IPL 2026 encounter with SRH, he stated, "T20 is inherently batter-friendly, and audiences expect to see big shots. However, this presents a significant challenge and an opportunity for bowlers to shine and become heroes on the field." He further noted that success in high-scoring games requires bowlers to have confidence in their skills, highlighting the importance of mental and technical prowess.
