Digne, who joined Aston Villa in January 2022 from Everton, has made a total of 182 appearances for the club, netting four goals and assisting 24 times during his tenure at Villa Park. He was part of the Aston Villa team that secured the UEFA Europa League title last season and later represented France in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals.

In May, PSG achieved a historic milestone by becoming only the second club to defend the UEFA Champions League (UCL) title successfully. They triumphed over Arsenal in a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 4-3 after a 1-1 draw following extra time in the final held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Arsenal's defender Gabriel Magalhães missed the decisive penalty, allowing PSG to secure back-to-back Champions League titles.
This victory places PSG alongside Real Madrid, who have won the Champions League 15 times, as the only teams to retain the title since the competition's rebranding in 1992. Notably, this final was the first Champions League title match to be decided by penalties since Real Madrid's win over Atletico Madrid in 2016.
