On Sunday, Lovlina Borgohain, India's renowned boxer, expressed her overwhelming happiness after clinching the gold medal in the women's 75kg category at the Asian Games 2026. This victory was particularly special as it coincided with her birthday and marked an improvement from her previous silver medal.
Upon her return to New Delhi, Lovlina shared that the experience of coming home with a medal and reuniting with her community was beyond words.
She received a heartfelt welcome from friends and neighbors in Rajouri Gardens after her journey back from Japan. Having previously earned medals at the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, Lovlina achieved a significant milestone by securing gold at one of the 'big three' multi-sport events, defeating China's Bao Ziyi with a score of 5-0 in the final.

Lovlina showcased remarkable composure during the gold medal match, effectively utilizing her counter-punching skills against the aggressive Bao.
