Students from the Government ITI and Government Senior Secondary School Bharmour, along with local Mahila Mandals, organized an awareness campaign aimed at educating shopkeepers about the significance of cleanliness and effective waste segregation. The event was led by ADM Bharmour Vikas Sharma.
Throughout the initiative, students highlighted the necessity of categorizing waste into distinct groups:
- Dry Waste: Items such as plastic bags, bottles, boxes, wrappers from chips and toffees, plastic cups, milk and yogurt containers, rubber, thermocol, old clothing, wooden scraps, newspapers, stationery, paper cups, and plates should be disposed of in the blue dustbin.
- Wet Waste: This includes vegetable and fruit peels, leftover food, eggshells, bones from chicken or fish, spoiled fruits or vegetables, used tissues, tea leaves, coconut shells, and flowers or garlands from worship, which should go into the green dustbin.
- Domestic Hazardous Waste: E-waste like printers, ink cartridges, electronic components, chemicals, empty chemical containers, paint, oil, thinner, thermometers, hair, and diapers must be discarded in the red dustbin.
The goal of this initiative was to motivate local residents and shopkeepers to embrace responsible waste management practices and uphold cleanliness throughout the town.
