Severe Sentence for Child Rape Case
A local court in Ballia has convicted a neighbor in a two-and-a-half-year-old case involving the rape of a young girl, sentencing him to 25 years in prison. According to the prosecution, on the evening of June 25, 2023, an eight-year-old girl was bathing at a hand pump in front of her home when her neighbor, Surendra Ram (45), forcibly took her into his bathing area and assaulted her.
Following a complaint filed by the girl's father, a case was registered against Surendra Ram, leading to his arrest. Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh reported on Sunday that after hearing both sides, the special judge, Kanta, found Surendra Ram guilty on Saturday, imposing a sentence of 25 years in prison along with a fine of 25,000 rupees.
