Local BJP Leader Found Dead in West Bengal: Investigation Underway

Tragic Discovery in Hooghly District

On Saturday, the lifeless body of a local BJP leader was discovered hanging at his residence in the Ghoghat area of Hooghly district, West Bengal.

According to police reports, Sheikh Bakibullah, who served as the president of the BJP's minority cell in Ghoghat, was found on the balcony of his second-floor home.

An official stated that when a police team arrived to retrieve the body for an autopsy, they encountered protests from local residents. Bakibullah's wife recounted, “After dinner, he was checking his phone and mentioned he would sleep later. I have no idea when he went out to the balcony.”

A fellow BJP member from Ghoghat noted that Bakibullah was actively involved in the party's daily operations in the area. He emphasized, “We will ensure that justice is served.” Meanwhile, leaders from the Trinamool Congress in the district have called for the truth behind the incident to be revealed.
