Since taking over as head coach in 2018, Scaloni has guided Argentina to significant achievements, including winning the FIFA World Cup 2022 and two Copa America titles. In the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup, Argentina finished as runners-up to Spain.

In an interview with MiGu, as reported by a sports news outlet, Scaloni emphasized that a new era is beginning for the national team, with younger players eager to join the senior squad. He stated that age should not be a barrier, highlighting that performance and dedication are what truly matter. Scaloni also reflected on the psychological challenges of sustaining the team's drive after their Copa America victory in 2024. He acknowledged the difficulty of replicating successful trophy-winning cycles but expressed confidence in his squad. He stressed the importance of a strong bond between the fans and the team.

"After the 2024 Copa America, I sensed that challenges were ahead. It's tough to repeat such successful runs, and as a coach, you must recognize that it won't be easy," he concluded.

Argentina's next match is set for September 30 against Bolivia at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Cordoba. The team will also face Burkina Faso on October 3 and Benin on October 6 at River Plate's Stadium.
