This accolade marks him as the first footballer to achieve this prestigious recognition. The Princess of Asturias Award celebrates exceptional contributions in various fields, including arts, literature, social sciences, scientific research, international cooperation, and sports. The jury, led by foundation president Teresa Perales, made the decision to honor Messi, as reported by ESPN.
