Maharajganj Court Delivers Life Sentences

A court in Maharajganj has sentenced two individuals to life imprisonment in connection with a murder case. On Sunday, Assistant District Prosecutor Purnendu Ram Tripathi reported that Sunil Sharma was killed on September 24, 2023, in the Shyamdeourwa police jurisdiction.


Tripathi explained that the case involved Virendra Giri and his son Munna, also known as Yashwant Giri. The motive behind the murder stemmed from Sunil's romantic involvement with Virendra's daughter, which led the father-son duo to commit the crime.


After hearing arguments from both sides, Special Judge Sanjay Mishra, who oversees cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, found Virendra and Yashwant guilty of murder on Saturday. They were sentenced to life imprisonment and each fined ₹60,000.
