Severe Sentencing in Child Murder Case
In a significant ruling, Additional District and Sessions Judge Sheetal Sharma has imposed life sentences on Sonu Kumar and Anita Devi for the murder of four-year-old Kairvi. The court also levied a fine of ₹1 lakh on each of the convicted individuals.
The tragic case unfolded on July 26, 2024, when a report was filed about the child's disappearance. Investigations indicated that Kairvi had been with Anita Devi before her untimely death. Following the confessions of the accused, law enforcement located the child's remains. Forensic experts gathered vital evidence, including clothing, footwear, stones, and other items from the scene.
A thorough post-mortem was performed, and DNA along with other scientific data was collected. Testimonies from witnesses further corroborated the evidence, leading to the submission of a chargesheet in court.
Upon reviewing the evidence, the court deemed both defendants guilty, resulting in their life sentences and fines. The prosecution was effectively managed by District Attorney Vivek Dogra.
