Organ Donation Initiative in Bengaluru

In Bengaluru, a remarkable organ donation initiative has given new life to five individuals after a patient was declared 'brain dead' on Friday. The organs were distributed across various regions of the country.


As part of this operation, the Indian Air Force transported a kidney and a cornea from Bengaluru to Delhi via air. On Saturday, the Air Force shared details of this coordinated effort along with images of the organs being transported on social media.


The post highlighted that the Air Force facilitated life-saving transplants through the Command Hospital Air Force Bengaluru (CHAFB), enabling the organs to reach their destinations. It noted that the patient, declared 'brain dead' on Friday, has provided 'new life' to five recipients.


According to the Indian Air Force, one kidney and one cornea were sent to a military hospital in Delhi. The second kidney, cornea, and skin transplant procedures were conducted at Victoria Hospital in collaboration with the medical team from CHAFB. Additionally, a successful liver transplant was performed at Glen Eagles BGS Hospital.


The Indian Air Force emphasized that this initiative was carried out in partnership with 'Jeevansarthak Karnataka', showcasing the exceptional dedication of the armed forces' medical community and their expertise in the medical field.
