Life Imprisonment for Wife and Nephew in 2021 Murder Case in Ballia
Court Sentences Two in Murder Case
A local court in Ballia has sentenced a woman and her nephew to life imprisonment for their involvement in a murder case dating back four years. The verdict was delivered after they were found guilty of killing the victim, identified as Man Singh Verma.
According to the prosecution, the body of 42-year-old Man Singh was discovered hanging in a rice mill compound in the village of Telma Jalaluddinpur on April 21, 2021. An autopsy revealed that he had been strangled.
The case was initiated following a complaint filed by the victim's elder brother, Rameshwar Verma. After a thorough investigation, police concluded that Man Singh's wife, Nirmala, and her nephew, Vedvyas, were responsible for the murder.
Prosecutors indicated that Nirmala was involved in an illicit relationship with Vedvyas, and the murder was committed in response to Man Singh's objections. On Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh reported that District and Sessions Judge Amit Pal Singh pronounced the sentence on Tuesday after hearing both sides. The court also imposed a fine of ₹7,000 on each of the convicted individuals.
