New Chief of Defence Staff Announced

Delhi has officially announced that Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani will take over as India's next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). His appointment comes as the current CDS's term is set to conclude on May 30.

Lieutenant General Subramani will oversee the operations of all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces.


So, who exactly is NS Raja Subramani? He is a highly respected and experienced officer in the Indian Army, having been awarded prestigious military honors such as PVSM, AVSM, SM, and VSM. Currently, he serves as a military advisor at the National Security Council Secretariat since September 1, 2025.


Prior to this role, he held the position of Vice Chief of Army Staff from July 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025. He also commanded the Central Command as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief from March 2023 to June 2024.
