Leopard Trapped in Kollam District

Kollam (Kerala), August 8 - A leopard that had been preying on livestock in Piravantur, Kollam district, was captured in a trap on Saturday, according to forest officials. The trap was set up in Alimukku, near Piravantur, following a series of reports about livestock attacks over the past month.

The most recent incident occurred on July 29, when goats were killed at a local residence. Following this event, the forest department conducted an investigation in the area and confirmed the presence of the leopard. Subsequently, a trap was installed in a secluded area near the forest.

Officials reported that the leopard was caught in the trap early Saturday morning. They indicated that the animal would be transported to a nearby forest center along with the trap. Before making a decision on whether to release the leopard back into the wild, its health condition will be assessed.
