Controversy Erupts Over Alleged Audio Clip

A dispute has arisen following the circulation of an alleged audio clip featuring Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Eknath Khadse, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has issued a warning that he will pursue legal action regarding the purported remarks made against him and his daughter-in-law, Union Minister Raksha Khadse. The audio clip, which has been shared widely on social media, reportedly includes derogatory comments made by Vijay Chaudhary, the BJP's North Maharashtra coordinator, about Khadse and disparaging remarks directed at Raksha Khadse, who serves as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports.

Legal Steps Under Consideration

Despite attempts, the authenticity of the audio clip could not be independently verified. On Thursday, Khadse informed reporters that he is consulting with his lawyers and intends to initiate legal proceedings. He stated, "I am seeking legal advice and will commence legal action soon. I will also present the alleged audio clip to the senior leadership of the BJP."

Resignation Amidst Allegations

In light of the controversy, Chaudhary has resigned from his position as the BJP's North Maharashtra coordinator, submitting his resignation to state party president Ravindra Chavan. In his resignation letter, he claimed that political adversaries have been spreading the alleged audio clip to tarnish his and the BJP's reputation. He emphasized that he stepped down to ensure a fair investigation into the matter.

Khadse's Political Journey

Chaudhary also noted that he has diligently fulfilled the responsibilities assigned to him by the BJP over the past 13 years. Eknath Khadse previously served as the Revenue Minister in the cabinet led by Devendra Fadnavis from 2014 until he resigned in 2016 due to allegations related to a land deal. After spending 40 years with the BJP, he left the party in October 2020 to join the NCP led by Sharad Pawar, where he currently serves as a member of the Legislative Council. In April 2024, Khadse announced his intention to rejoin the BJP, but this return has since been postponed. Due to the prolonged delay, he has altered his stance and dismissed the possibility of returning to the BJP, reaffirming his commitment to the NCP.
