Criminal Linked to Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Killed
Hapur: A notorious criminal, identified as Naveen Kumar, who was linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has been killed during a coordinated operation involving the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and the Delhi Police Special Cell. Officials confirmed this development on Wednesday. Kumar, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, was hospitalized after sustaining injuries during an encounter in the Thana Kotwali area of Hapur on Wednesday night.
Kumar was wanted for his involvement in a murder case and under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) related to an incident in Thana Farsh Bazar, Delhi. Authorities reported that he was a sharpshooter and had twenty criminal cases against him, including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, and violations of MCOCA, registered in both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. He had previously been sentenced by a Delhi court in two separate cases.
In a separate incident on May 27, another criminal was injured during an encounter with police while they were conducting vehicle checks in the Thana Phase 2 area of Noida. One suspect was shot in the leg during the police response, while his accomplice managed to flee. The injured individual was taken to the hospital, with police describing him as a dangerous robber and thief.
Central Noida DCP Shakti Mohan Avasthy reported that on Tuesday morning, officers were checking vehicles at Kakarala Pushta Tiraha when they attempted to stop two individuals on a motorcycle. Instead of complying, the suspects fled towards Sorkha, prompting a police chase. As they were cornered, the suspects opened fire on the police.
The DCP noted that one of the criminals was hit by a bullet during the police's retaliatory fire, while his partner escaped. The injured suspect was identified as Prince Kumar, from Pachiya village in Nawada, Bihar, but was residing in Salarpur village, Noida.
