Introduction to the Super Cricket League 60

The Super Cricket League 60 (SCL60) has officially announced its inaugural season, marking the world's first hybrid cricket league that unites aspiring amateur players with cricket legends on a competitive stage.

The Gurukul: A Unique Mentorship Initiative

SCL60 aims to connect grassroots cricket with professional play through a structured pathway that starts with nationwide talent scouting and leads to players sharing the field with renowned cricket figures. This innovative league format merges aspiring cricketers with legends in a team setting, fostering an environment where mentorship and competition coexist.

As part of the launch, cricket legend Robin Menon has been appointed as the inaugural Guru for The Gurukul, the league's premier cricket reality show and talent development initiative. Drawing inspiration from India's traditional Guru-Shishya system, The Gurukul is designed to discover, mentor, and fast-track the next wave of cricket talent. Menon, a highly regarded coach with extensive experience, has significantly influenced the careers of several Indian cricketers, including S. Sreesanth, JP Yadav, and Tinu Yohannan. His mentorship-focused coaching philosophy aligns perfectly with The Gurukul's vision, paving a direct route into professional cricket.

Nationwide Selection Process

The response to the first season has been remarkable, with over 5 lakh registrations from aspiring cricketers across the country through open trials in 23 cities and boot camps in 4 cities. After a thorough selection process, 180 players have been shortlisted, consisting of 108 males and 72 females aged between 16 and 36 years.

These selected individuals will participate in The Gurukul's residential mentorship program, where they will receive training from four expert Gurus and interact closely with the league's panel of cricket legends. This program will assess not only technical skills but also temperament, discipline, character, and coachability before players advance to the inaugural SCL60 Player Auction.

League Structure and Vision

The league will consist of six men's franchises and five women's franchises, each team featuring a mix of cricket legends and emerging amateur talent identified through SCL60's nationwide scouting efforts. Following The Gurukul, franchises will finalize their teams at the inaugural SCL60 Player Auction ahead of the league's debut season.

Naresh Pillai, Director of Sportons Media, emphasized the need for structured opportunities for aspiring players, stating, "India has extraordinary cricketing talent in every corner of the country, but access to structured opportunities remains one of the biggest challenges for aspiring players. SCL60 has been created to change that. We are building an ecosystem where talent is identified, mentored, and ultimately allowed to compete alongside cricket legends. Our vision extends beyond launching a cricket league; we are creating a transparent and merit-driven pathway that empowers the next generation of Indian cricketers. Our ambition is to build one of the most accessible talent pathways in world cricket. We want SCL60 to become a platform where ability, commitment, and performance determine opportunity, regardless of geography or background."

Future Announcements

In the upcoming weeks, SCL60 will unveil its panel of expert Gurus, franchise identities, player auction details, broadcast partners, and other league-related announcements as it gears up for its inaugural season.
